  • Every answer explained, with the rule, fact or method it checks and where to find it in the official material
  • Online test mode: optional timer, automatic score, then a review of your mistakes
  • Printable PDF with an answer key after each test
  • Instant access after payment, and a permanent access link by email

Each full-length practice test has 50 questions drawn from all five core knowledge areas, with a 45-minute timer and the 90% pass mark (45 of 50), like the real Operatives test. Many questions describe a short site situation and ask for the safest action. Our questions are original, written from HSE, GOV.UK and legislation guidance; they cannot reproduce the CITB question bank, the Pearson VUE test screen or the ID checks, so work through CITB's official GT100 material as well.

Sample question from practice test 1

Besides taking reasonable care, what else does the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 require employees to do?

  1. Write their own risk assessment for every task
  2. Co-operate with their employer so that legal health and safety duties can be carried out
  3. Buy their own safety equipment
  4. Inspect every item of site equipment each day

Answer B. Section 7(b) requires employees to co-operate with their employer, or anyone else with legal duties, as far as necessary for those duties to be carried out. Following site rules and using the controls provided are part of this.

At what daily or weekly average noise exposure must employers assess the risk and give workers information and training?

  1. 75 dB(A)
  2. 80 dB(A)
  3. 85 dB(A)
  4. 87 dB(A)

Answer B. The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 set the level for assessing the risk and providing information and training at 80 dB(A). Hearing protection and zones are required at 85 dB(A), and 87 dB(A) is the exposure limit value.
