Ohio Permit Test Practice Pack

Ohio permit practice tests written from the current official handbook, every answer explained.

What you get

  • 4 full-length practice tests of 40 questions — 160 questions in total, none of them on the free pages
  • Every answer explained, with the rule, fact or method it checks and where to find it in the official material
  • Online test mode: optional timer, automatic score, then a review of your mistakes
  • Printable PDF with an answer key after each test
  • Instant access after payment, and a permanent access link by email

Each full-length practice test has 40 multiple-choice questions, like the real test, drawn from all three study areas (signs, laws and safe driving), and uses the same 75 percent (30 of 40) pass mark. It cannot reproduce the exact questions, wording or the BMV's online testing interface, and it has no time limit because none is published.

Sample question from practice test 1

You passed the vision screening and knowledge test. Within how many days must you buy your temporary permit (TIPIC) at a deputy registrar?

  1. 60 days
  2. 30 days
  3. 90 days
  4. 6 months

Answer A. Visit a Deputy Registrar License Agency within 60 days. If the TIPIC is not bought within 60 days, you must start over with the vision screening and knowledge test.

How do you check a four-second following distance?

  1. Count the lane lines between you and the car ahead
  2. Count seconds from when the car ahead passes a fixed object until you reach it
  3. Check the speedometer and divide by 10
  4. Watch the brake lights of the car ahead

Answer B. When the rear of the vehicle ahead passes a stationary point such as a sign or pole, count one-thousand-one to four. If you reach the point before four, you are too close.
