DPS does not publish how many questions are on the Class C knowledge exam, so our full-length practice test uses 30 questions, a length we chose. It is not an official figure. Each practice test mixes road signs, road rules and safe-driving questions from the Texas Driver Handbook and uses the official 70 percent pass mark. It cannot reproduce the exact questions, order or on-screen format DPS or your driver education provider uses.
Sample question from practice test 1
What is the minimum age to apply for a Texas learner license with driver education?
- 17
- 14
- 15
- 16
Answer C. A learner license applicant must be at least 15. You may start the classroom part of driver education at 14, but you cannot apply for the learner license until 15.
According to the Speed chapter, what gap should you keep behind the car ahead above 30 mph in good road conditions?
- 4 seconds
- 10 seconds
- 1 second
- 2 seconds
Answer A. For speeds above 30 mph, maintain a 4-second gap during good road conditions, and allow more time in poor conditions. Four seconds is also the best practice for beginners.
Good to know before you buy
- These are original practice questions written by passmock from the official test description and the current state handbook. They are not questions from the real test, and no practice pack can guarantee a result.
- In Texas, driver licenses are issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), not a "DMV". DPS is not affiliated with and does not endorse passmock. Our practice questions are original, written from the free Texas Driver Handbook; they are not DPS test items.
