Each practice test has 18 questions, like the real test, drawn across signs, Pennsylvania laws and safe driving practices, and uses the same pass mark of 15 correct. PennDOT does not publish how many questions come from each topic or a time limit, so the mix varies from test to test; the real test is taken at a Driver License Center and may include sign pictures, while our sign questions describe the sign in words.

How early may your health care provider complete the physical examination on the learner's permit application (DL-180)?
- No earlier than one year before your 16th birthday
- No earlier than six months before your 16th birthday
- Only on or after your 16th birthday

Answer B. The DL-180 medical section must be completed no earlier than six months before your 16th birthday, and the application is valid for one year from the exam date.
How far ahead should you look to identify problems early while driving?
- 12 to 15 seconds ahead
- 2 to 4 seconds ahead
- 30 to 45 seconds ahead
- Only as far as the car in front of you
Answer A. You should identify problems 12 to 15 seconds ahead, about one block in the city or a quarter of a mile at highway speeds.
